The Play's the Thing: A Shakespeare Mix-Up
JL ThorntonThere are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in our philosophy…
When a forgotten Shakespeare collection gets a bit confused about its plotlines, Prince Hamlet and his best friend Horatio find themselves thrown into new stories and roles they were never meant to play. With too many things between them left unsaid, can a little time away from the drama of Denmark’s court offer a chance for something more?
Soon joined by a determined and opinionated Juliet, this lost trio works their way through multiple plays, bizarre scenarios, and ridiculous adventures as they try to get back to Denmark and track down the misplaced Romeo. But Hamlet’s still haunted by the ghost of his father and the revenge he’s supposed to enact, Horatio’s struggling to believe he and a prince could ever be together, and Juliet is willing to do anything to get back to her husband, even deal with a pair of pining, lovesick Danes.
With Hamlet, Horatio, and Juliet running the show, this volume of Shakespeare’s plays is definitely going off-book. But what happens to Denmark and the plot of Hamlet with canon out the window? Can revenge and love be achieved in the same play?
Could it be possible for some of literature’s most famous tragedies to get a happy ending?
